Agromorphological performance of garlic landraces in Piauí, Brazil Ciência Rural
Albuquerque,José de Ribamar de Araújo; Monteiro,Hélio Nelson Brito; Bezerra,Antônio Aécio de Carvalho; Humberto Aires Matos Filho,Carlos; Lopes,Ângela Celis de Almeida; Gomes,Regina Lucia Ferreira.
ABSTRACT: In garlic (Allium sativum L.), genotype evaluation facilitates the search for better varieties. The aim of this study was to use morphoagronomic traits to evaluate three garlic landraces, namely, “Cateto Roxo Local”, “Cateto Roxo Mineiro 1” and “Cateto Roxo Mineiro 2”. They were planted on May 1, 2014 and May 23, 2014, in the municipality of Sussuapara, State of Piauí, Brazil. These varieties have similar behavior at the vegetative stage. “Cateto Roxo Local” had the highest average bulb mass, clove number per bulb, and clove mass per bulb. “Cateto Roxo Mineiro 1” and “Cateto Roxo Mineiro 2” had the largest clove diameter per bulb. In Sussuapara - PI, “Cateto Roxo Mineiro 1” and “Cateto Roxo Mineiro 2” are recommended for planting in the beginning...

Cotton zoning based on sowing periods of lower risk in Parana state, Brazil BABT
Wrege,Marcos Silveira; Caramori,Paulo Henrique; Gonçalves,Sergio Luiz; Almeida,Wilson Paes de; Marur,Celso Jamil; Pires,José Ricoy; Yamaoka,Ruy Seiji.
Cotton is cultivated in the North and West of Parana State, southern Brazil, under conditions of climatic risk variable in space and time. Risks of temperature below 15ºC at the establishment period, daily average temperature below 20ºC at the stage of cotton boll opening, and soil water deficit for both plant establishment and flowering periods, were estimated to identify homogeneous zones with sowing periods of lower climatic risk. The time interval with adequate temperature, associated with minimum risks of the other factors and yield data from field experiments allowed the identification of seven distinct zones, with best sowing periods ranging from September 20 to November 20. Official credit to the farmers is conditioned by the Central Bank of Brazil...

The objective of this experiment was to investigate the effect of planting dates on seed quality of lablab bean (Lablab purpureus L. Sweet) was carried out at laboratory of the faculty of Natural Resources and Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University Chalermphrakiat Sakhon Nakhon Province Campus, during July, 2012 to August, 2012. A completely randomized design with four replications was used. Experimental treatments consisted of seed form four planting dates spaced at about 30-day intervals form 23 July to 23 October, 2011. The results revealed that planting date had a significant effect on physiological seed quality of lablab bean (P<0.05). The seed of lablab bean planted on 23 July produced the highest seed germination, germination index and pure...

This research aims to study the effect of planting dates on the variation of some important agronomic characteristics of photoperiod sensitive cultivars. The experiment was conducted at Nakorn Ratchasima Rice Research Centre during wet season 2011-2013 by using a split plot in RCB design with 3 replicates. Main plots consisted of 5 planting dates; May 5, June 5, July 5, August 5, and September 5. Sub plots consisted of 4 photoperiod sensitive rice cultivars; i.e. KDML105, RD45, RD6, and RD12. Some important agronomic characteristics were recorded. Data sets from each year were analyzed using a single site analysis. Treatment means were compared using a Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The results showed that planting dates significantly affected some...
